June 13, 2008: WHAT'S UP? WHERE ARE THE GIGS?
Yeah. Since we just put out a new album, you'd think we would be playing some
gigs to support it over the summer. Well, that was the plan, until keyboard
player Jared "Nebulous" Brookes damaged himself by completely seperating his
left achilles tendon! To quote Neb's MySpace blog, "the friggin' thing popped
right off during a Kendo match". BUT, he can be re-built (like the six-million
dollar man), and once he's fully functional we WILL be doing some more gigs.
In the mean time we're working on some remixes and some new stuff. Also,
Scott "Smoth" Johns will be performing with Broken Paws at The Soda this
Tuesday night (June 17), doing some experimental stuff with audio and some
video (to be honest, I'm not sure what it is, so come out and check it out
with me). Also, Kat from CJSW's Turing Radio will be doing some DJing along
with DJ Kosmonaut (with whom I DJ with at the Underground on the first and
third Thursdays of the month for the Datalink night).
GREETINGS TO "R! SOCIETY"... a couple of cool synthpop dudes I met at the EMC
birthday bash on Thursday night. Don't be surprised if we do some gigs with
guys in the future!
Until then...

March 20, 2008: Girls Are Evil is out now!
Our new album is officially released and available online at CD Baby, and it
should be available on iTunes soon. To order it from CD Baby, click here
(they have it available as an actual CD, or as a digital download).
If you live in Calgary, you can also pick it up at Sloth Records or
Megatunes... and it should also available at Play (downtown location) and
Melodiya by the end of the week. It's also gonna be available at our CD
release party, which is tonight at The Warehouse! The only place where you
can get exclusive MD buttons.
Be the first on your block! Get 'em while they're hot! ...and any other
cheesy sales-pitch phrases I can think of.

that reason too!

they can sign you in... although, I think most of you out there already have

they're not that expensive and they get you into some sweet shows!

Jan. 27, 2008: Official Release Date Announced for the new MD Album

officially released on March 20, 2008. We'll also be doing a CD release
party at The Warehouse (731 - 10th Ave. SW, Calgary AB) on that date too,
which will include live performances by MANNEQUIN DEPRESSIVES (obviously),
as well as BENEATH THESE IDLE TIDES w/MORGAN GREENWOOD, PHONOTACTIC, and more!
Further details to come (once we get it all sorted out).
We'll also be posting some sample excerpts from the new album, so check back
soon!

Jan. 7, 2008: New Album to Manufacturing!
The new album is being sent to the manufacturer this week, so it won't be
long until it starts showing up at stations nationwide. We're still on
track for a March, 2008 release date. Stay tuned!
Left Spine Down w/ MD @ the Underground
The August 6th show with Left Spine Down was a wicked ol' time! We definitely
enjoyed meeting LSD and their fearless crew of wildmen (for the record,
Nebulous misses his Pac Man lunch box, too).
Best of luck to LSD on the rest of their tour.

SodaBlast!
A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the show last night at the Soda. We had fun,
hope you did too! Mike & Richard of EMC did a great job organizing (thanks to the mgmt.
@ the Soda too, for letting us in a bit early for sound check), and lots of people went
home with door prizes. We're sure the next 3 years will be even bigger for EMC!

Celebrate Summer with MD @
The Soda
June 21st!
Now it's time for us to let our hair down and have some fun!
As a "thank you" to everyone who has supported us during the
Emergenza Festival (and spent way too much money on tickets to see us play
20 min sets), MANNEQUIN DEPRESSIVES will be playing a free full-length show
along with on Thursday, June 21st at The Soda (211 12th Ave S.W., Calgary, Alberta) at 9 PM.
This show is also to help celebrate Electronic Music Calgary's third
anniversary! It's gonna be a party and a half, so come on out!

Emergenza Calgary Final Update!
The final show for Emergenza in Calgary was lots of fun and the crowd was
awesome (amazing to get that much energy off you guys so early in the night).
We did not end up winning, but we did do quite well (the crowd voted us into
the top 6, and from there the judges picked the final winner). Congrats to
"United We Fall" for winning the Calgary round! Good luck in Vancouver!
A big thank you to everyone who came and supported us on this show
and all of the previous shows leading up to this (you're all so bloody awesome
- I can't even think of the right words to describe how much you all rock!)
And again, to all of you that wanted to be there to support us but couldn't
make it, we know you were with us in spirit!
I have to say, we really enjoyed playing these shows with Emergenza. We got to
meet a lot of awesome people and bands (and we also managed to snag a few new
fans along the way too!)
Well... now it's time to organize some proper shows (where we can play for
more than 20 mins)... and I guess we should get back to work on that promised
second album too!
Stay tuned...
-Rod & the MD boys
Emergenza Round 2: Thanks Everyone!
We had a blast playing in round 2 of the Emergenza Festival on Friday...
although the power outage that happened half way through the set was kind of
annoying (I hope you all enjoyed the beat box and squeaky squid solo...
along with the bad jokes).
Despite the power outage, we still managed to come in as the second highest
voted band of the night. Thank you so much to all of you who came out and
supported us yet again! Because of you, we're moving on to the third and
final round for Calgary. This time, 10 bands will play and ONLY ONE will move
on to the next city (which is Vancouver).
The next round will actually be upstairs at The Warehouse on a Saturday
(June 2nd), which will be a nice change -- The Underground is
nice and all, but the stage is just a bit small for my taste -- and maybe the
power outage was because they didn't have enough juice for our lights!
Thank you again to all of you who came out! (And thanks to those who wanted
to come out but couldn't make it. We know your thoughts were with us.)
More to come...
-Rod & MD boys
Emergenza Round 2 @ The Underground
Mark your calendars for Friday April 6, 2007 to see Mannequin
Depressives live at
The Underground.
We placed first in Round One, gathering the most audience votes -- so
we plan an even higher energy show this time around. Those who attend will
be the first ever to hear the new single Victim of Circumstance
from our upcoming album!
For tickets contact Rod via our Myspace page.
Emergenza 2007 - Round 1!
Round one of the Emergenza battle of the bands was a success, and Mannequin
Depressives are moving on to round 2. We enjoyed playing the show and also
enjoyed taking in the sights and sounds of the other bands (who all played
fantastic sets as well). Well done, everyone, and thanks to all those who
came out so see us play.
Stay tuned for the Calgary semifinal in April. Be sure to bookmark the
Emergenza Calgary Show Schedule
and check often as the April show dates draw near.

MD @ Emergenza 2007!
MD will be playing a short set on Jan. 12, 2007 at The Underground Nightclub
(731 10th Ave SW - Calgary), playing with some of the the best bands in
Calgary, as part of the Emergenza
Tour.
This is like a "battle of the bands" type of thing. Eight bands play on the
first night and four of them will move on to the next stage. As far as we
know we're the only electronic band participating in this event, so this
should be interesting :-). The ranking is based on crowd response, so come
on out and make some noise!
Cost at the door is $18. If you're in the Calgary area, get in touch with us
and we'll get you advance tickets for only $12. Just send us an email at
mannequin_depressives@hotmail.com
and include "tickets" in the subject line.

Back To Work You Slackers!
Summer is over, and now it's time to get back to work. We basically took the
summer off this year. Last winter was a pretty busy one for us and we decided
we deserved a break, dammnit! OK... maybe we're just lazy bastards. We really
meant to get work done. We needed to "make contacts" and "network" (aka. go
out and get drunk w/people a lot).
Our latest single, "Sweet Disease" is slated for its official international
release in November, and our second album (which is, as yet, untitled) should
be out early next year. So there's a lot to look forward to.
Scott, put down the vodka and get back to work.

The Morning After...
The Feb. 25th show at the Warehouse Nightclub in Calgary was a huge success --
we had a great time opening for The Birthday Massacre, as well as hanging with
them after the show! We wish them the best on the next leg of their tour.
Pics of the show to be posted ASAP on our Images page. Check back soon.
MD + Birthday Massacre Live @ the Warehouse, Feb. 25
Come see Mannequin Depressives this Saturday, February 25th at the
Warehouse Nightclub! We are pleased to have the opportunity to open for
The
Birthday Massacre. Doors open at 7PM, 18+. Tickets available at
TicketMaster,
Sloth Records and MegaTunes.
Come on down and enjoy Calgary's premiere alternative and electronic music
scene!
January 25, 2006: New site is live!
If you're a new visitor, WELCOME! If not, you'll notice the new look.
The goal is to have a site that is easy to navigate for our visitors, and
quick to update for the webmaster (that would be Russ. Sucker.) If you
have comments/questions, send us an email
-- we'd love to hear from you.
Most sections are now functional, including
Band Info,
Listen,
FREE downloads,
Discography and the
Contact page.
November 02, 2005: Word spreads...
We're pleasantly surprised to hear that our new single, "Sweet Disease", has
spread as far as Boston! We got an email from
DJ Synthetic:Love
requesting copies of the single.. apparently it's being well-received at
his club. Off to the post office we go!
October 30, 2005: New Single Released: "Sweet Disease"
The official version of Our new single, "Sweet Disease", has gone out to
select DJs and radio stations around the world in anticipation of the release
of our second album.

advance copy!
August 24, 2005: Testing the waters...
Russ's mission to drop off some special preview editions of MD's new
single "Sweet Disease" in Seattle's excellent Musicwerks shop is accomplished,
we'll hopefully see him again in a while when he's back from holidays.
Then it's back to the studio to finalize "Sweet Disease" and a new track,
tentatively entitled "Guilty"...
August 20, 2005
In preparation for our new single, we have commissioned remixer and
musician extraordinaire Karl Mohr to produce alternate versions
of selected songs from our upcoming album.
Karl's special touch is sure to
result in some magic which we'll eagerly share with everyone once it's done.
March 15, 2005: Still at it...
We're still at it. Our philosophy when making music is to take our time, and
get it right -- as time goes on, it seems that each album is tougher to make
than the last. Why? Because, the more you learn, the bigger the universe
becomes. Watch this space...
